Support the Lionesses down your local urges CAMRA
The Campaign for Real Ale is encouraging football fans to head to their local pub to watch England in the final of the women’s Euros on Sunday evening.
The call comes as part of CAMRA’s Summer of Pub campaign to encourage pub-going over the summer months and help the industry to get back on its feet post-pandemic.
Football fans can easily search for pubs that show live sports using WhatPub, CAMRA’s online pub guide featuring over 55,000 venues and boasts a handy “sports TV” filter for ease. They can also browse CAMRA’s bespoke Summer of Pub map to find participating pub events on Sunday evening.
CAMRA Chairman Nik Antona commented: “Home success in international football is always good news for pubs, and I think we are all ready to raise a glass and cheer on the Lionesses this Sunday! It is fantastic to see such a revived interest in women’s football and such a strong turnout for their games.
“We hope those at home will show their support by tuning into the match at their local. Pubs are a vital part of community life – bringing people together and helping to tackle loneliness and social isolation. Yet despite not being under any restrictions this summer they still need our support to survive and thrive as they face rising prices, skyrocketing energy bills and a dip in consumer confidence.
“This is a great opportunity to support those community hubs while raising a glass to the England team.”
