CAMRA’s prestigious Good Beer Guide celebrates 50 years
CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide – the UK’s best-selling beer and pub guide – is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
To mark the occasion, CAMRA Books will be releasing a special collector’s hardback edition and have just officially announced that the foreword has been written by HRH The Prince of Wales.
This year’s Guide builds upon decades of experience to give readers overviews of the beer and pub scene across each region of the UK, compiled by the award-winning author of 50 Years of CAMRA, Laura Hadland. It brings together pub and brewery information for the first time, making it easier than ever before to find your new local brew.
CAMRA National Chairman Nik Antona says: “There’s so much to celebrate as we mark the 50th edition of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide. It is a huge honour to have HRH The Prince of Wales pen this year’s foreword, celebrating the important role that pubs have played in British history.
“The last few years have been an incredibly difficult time for the industry, and we need more support than ever before to keep our nation’s pubs open and thriving. I’d encourage everyone to use this year’s Guide to visit the very best pubs across the UK and support them for generations to come.”
The Good Beer Guide, sponsored this year by Cask Marque, is set to be published on 27 October 2022 and pre-orders for the Special Collector’s Edition are available until 30 August 2022. Its cover has been artfully designed by artist and designer Neil Gower, known for his work on the covers of Bill Bryson’s travel series and William Golding’s Lord of the Flies.
Paul Nunny, Director of Cask Marque said: “Cask Marque has sponsored the Good Beer Guide for a number of years, because it is important that we recognise great pubs with a CAMRA endorsement. 50 years of actively supporting our industry is a great achievement, and coincides with Cask Marque championing beer quality for 25 years!”
