CAMRA urges Bolton to utilise Brew2You app to tap into the beer market

The Campaign for Real Ale is encouraging pubs, clubs, brewers and cider producers based in Bolton to tap into the Brew2You app and website to help generate takeaway and delivery drink sales during the local lockdown. 

The Brew2You app was developed by CAMRA to help beer drinkers find and order fresh beer, cider and perry from local pubs and breweries. It is an easy–to–use platform which allows local pubs and producers to create a virtual shop window and promote their drinks offering during closure. 

The app generated over £90K worth of beer, cider and perry sales during lockdown and many brewers have hailed the app as a lifeline during lockdown, offering a new route to market and widening sale opportunities beyond their local area.

It is a not-for-profit initiative so that pubs and brewers can use the app free of charge (aside from a set £2/month Stripe user fee for payment processing). It has received widespread support across the industry, with endorsement from the British Institute of Innkeepers (BII), the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) and Cask Marque.

Nik Antona, CAMRA’s National Chairman said: “Many pubs have struggled to re-open this summer, having invested their dwindling reserves to do so safely and securely in line with COVID-safe guidance. A second shutdown in Bolton is a devastating blow for these pubs and local people’s livelihoods. 

“The Brew2You app was an invaluable resource for pubs and breweries nationwide during the lockdown and can be just as beneficial for these businesses in this second local lockdown. We’d encourage local businesses to sign up. Bolton locals can help by to tapping into Brew2You as a resource for finding great beer, cider and perry during this period of uncertainty and encouraging their local to get involved.”
