CAMRA comment on the SNP manifesto
Commenting on the publication of the Scottish National Party’s manifesto for the General Election, CAMRA’s Director for Scotland Sarah Crawford said:
“CAMRA welcomes the SNP’s proposal to reduce VAT on the hospitality sector but would also encourage SNP MPs, and all parties, to support cutting the rate of duty on beer served in pubs. This would offer support to well-run community pubs, helping them to thrive and stemming the rate of pub closures in Scotland. It would also encourage the responsible consumption of alcohol in a supervised community setting.
“The SNP’s commitment to reform UK excise structures and introduce a fairer tax for whisky should also be extended to consider how changes could better support Scotland’s breweries and cider producers.”
