A summer of fun planned at the Queens Head in Ockbrook

A summer of fun planned at the Queens Head in Ockbrook

A rural family-friendly pub in Ockbrook will be organising a number of events this summer to celebrate CAMRA’s Summer of Pub campaign – an initiative to encourage pub-going over the summer months.

The Queens Head on Victoria Avenue is village pub with a huge outdoor seating area serving great food, gin and of course, great beer. Dating back to the early 18th century, they are a family-friendly establishment with a large beer garden, ample parking, disabled access and pet-friendly facilities.

Starting with a Beer & Music Festival, they are organising a number of events to encourage locals and visitors alike to head down to their pub this summer. Their Beer Festival will take place from 23-26 August with 20 ales and six cider on show, live music each evening including a female soloist, Cassette Roulette (5 Piece Band), open mic session and an ABBA Tribute as well as a bouncy castle all weekend.

CAMRA is working with hundreds of pubs, including The Queens Head, to organise events to celebrate pub-going this summer, helping to keep the tradition alive by reminding the public how important their local is to their community.

CAMRA’s National Chairman Nik Antona said: “It’s fantastic to see so many pubs get involved in the Summer of Pub campaign and put on events to encourage visitors through their doors this summer. From sports screenings to quiz nights and garden parties, the range of activities taking place demonstrates how unique the Great British Pub is and reminds us all why we need to work so hard to preserve it.”
