Press Release
A summer of fun planned at The Admiral Collingwood in Ilfracombe
A seaside pub in Ilfracombe will be organising a number of events this summer to celebrate CAMRA’s Summer of Pub campaign – an initiative to encourage pub-going over the summer months.
The Admiral Collingwood on Wilder Road Ilfracombe won CAMRA’s Pub Design Award for ‘new build’ in 2015 and is listed in the premier pub guide, the Good Beer Guide. A striking building in a great location, it is situated on the seafront and the roof terrace is arguably the best place to watch the sunset over the sea. Inside there is a steel sculpture of a wave breaking to remind us that we are, after all, on the town’s seafront with the best view in town.
The pub will be joining in the Summer of Pub festivities starting today until Sunday 11 August with a cider festival to encourage locals and visitors alike to try a great range of ciders.
CAMRA is working with hundreds of pubs, including The Admiral Collingwood, to organise events to celebrate pub-going this summer, helping to keep the tradition alive by reminding the public how important their local is to their community.
CAMRA’s National Chairman Nik Antona said: “It’s fantastic to see so many pubs get involved in the Summer of Pub campaign and put on events to encourage visitors through their doors this summer. From sports screenings to quiz nights and garden parties, the range of activities taking place demonstrates how unique the Great British Pub is and reminds us all why we need to work so hard to preserve it.”
