Introduction to Belgian beer

Beyond the UK, Belgium is Europe’s other historic ale-brewing nation. In this introductory film, Tim Webb, author of eight editions of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide Belgium, introduces its complex beer culture by sampling eight classic beer types and a couple of local bar snacks, at the Dr Beer café and beer shop in Antwerp. Belgium’s 300 to 400 small, independent breweries make over 2000 regular beers in upward of 100 distinctly different styles, many unique to the country. With hundreds of individually owned, specialist beer cafés and almost as many dedicated beer stores, great gastronomy, and cultural quirks around every corner, Belgium is Europe’s top destination for adventurous beer tourism.

Cider blending & maturation: Pt. 1

A CAMRA Learn & Discover video guide

In this 2 part series on cider blending and maturation, Bill Bradshaw guides us through a series of conversations with some of the foremost blenders at the zenith of the cider-makers craft. The kind of ciders that find us at the bottom of an empty glass, savouring the moment and dreaming of what led us there. This series features Tom Oliver of Oliver’s Cider, founders of Little Pomona cider, James and Susanna Forbes, founders of Find and Foster fine ciders, Mat and Polly Hilton and retired biochemist, cider maker and veteran of Long Ashton Research Station (the National Fruit and Cider Institute), Andrew Lea. (This video features robust language in praise of cider).
