Double fronted old stone building much extended to one side, it lies about a mile distant from Pateley Bridge up the road heading west to the dale head. It was at one time the manager's house for the neighbouring Foster Beck mill which was driven by a huge waterwheel which still exists. Inside you enter a bar with the counter, an open fire with buffalo horns mounted above it. To the left is a dining room with tables and chairs set out for dining. All the rooms have plain white walls with old pictures and prints of the dale and further afield.
The many tourists visiting this pub in summer may well experience a sense of déjà vu from Covid times as only the outdoor area is open (apart from the toilets). Large marquees stand on the patio extending out into the car park while a long bar at the back serves up to four local ales. An adjacent hut sells pizza and burgers.
