This Pub is Closed Long Term
Highly commended for its refurbishment in CAMRA's pub design competition, this building began life again as a pub in 1990. Single bar only since upstairs lounge converted to a coffee shop and function room. Bargain lunches. Disco Friday & Saturday. The pub was closed for most of 2019 and reopened early December with limited opening hours. New management due to start 31/01/2020.
Historic Interest
Grade II listed twice! The West side, No.83 was listed first in 1952 followed by the East side No.81 in 1973. Historic England list UIDs: 1245235 & 1245233. No.83 dates from early to mid 18th century and No.81 from early 19th century, both as shop & dwellings. Altered and remodelled internally 1989-90 to become a pub and rated 'Highly Commended' by CAMRA for its pub design.
