One star - A pub interior of special national historic interest
Listed status: Not listed
An ex-Courage 1930s pub with a curved apex on the left, a copper roof, and rear sections of the building next to the railway line. The saloon bar in the apex is on two levels and has an original bar counter (although the top is modern), panelling to two-thirds height, and a doorway with twin doors with ‘Saloon’ and ‘Bar’ on them. A further set of doors leads from the saloon bar to the outside seating area, so there were possibly two rooms originally. The counter in the public bar is modern, and the dado panelling and bench seating also looks modern. This room is knocked through to a small pool room at the rear.
A refurbishment probably in early 2025 resulted in the loss of the inter-war bar-backs to be replaced by modern versions, and removed the partitions that created the jug and bottle bar and in doing so made the hitherto separate saloon and public bars into one room.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 1 regular beer.
Horns Tavern, West Norwood
