Sometimes called Theakston’s de facto brewery tap, it is Theakston's only pub, an award-winning hostelry and a great favourite with the locals as well as directors and staff from the Theakston brewery. There is a large dining area to one side and a small cosy taproom to the other offering exclusively Theakston’s beers, sometimes including the seasonal specials. In the taproom, a stuffed polar bear in a large glass case behind the bar keeps a watch over customers. The pub hosts a popular three day beer festival in June featuring over 30 beers. There are 14 bedrooms and conference facilities; the pub is licensed from 11am.
Historic Interest
Unusually for the Yorkshire Dales the pub was a victim of wartime bombing, following which it was derelict for many years before being renovated to a high standard.
