A trip up a rather narrow Drury Lane leads one to this rather remote former drovers' inn. It's situated on high ground giving delightful views up to the Cheshire Plain to the north and the Stiperstones range to the east. The pub is small with three little bar areas and a separate dining room. It is quaint and homely though with its exposed low beams, stone walls and a wood-burner for the winter.
Note the interesting wooden plaque on the wall in the bar commemorating the 9 local villagers who died in the Second World War. The pub is the starting point for walk number 2 of the Walking with Offa series. Accommodation includes a 'Shepherds Hut' built in the pub grounds in 2013. The pub will open for lunches during the week for walking parties if they book in advance. New ownership March 2017
