This popular and attractive village pub, set back from the road, was converted from a farm-house in 1991, although it served briefly as an alehouse in the mid-19th-century to benefit the builders of the Burton-Tutbury railway, nicknamed 'the Tutbury Jinnie', after which the pub is named. The comfortable lounge bar and the plainer dining room, the latter off to one side, both feature beamed ceilings and exposed timber-framed walls. Note the unusual bar counter top, inlaid with 4,600 1p coins (plus 3 hidden foreign ones!). No food Monday evening. Quiz night Monday.
