Cosy, multi-roomed village pub where the emphasis is on good food, although the lovely, old-fashioned bar area you come to first is mainly used for drinking. For dining, there are two cosy snugs behind the bar, and the main dining rooms extend into the small south-facing conservatory. The small, main bar is wood-floored, has a warming real fire and is decorated with cartoons and old photos of the pub and village. Popular with locals, hikers and cyclists (the pub is on National Cycle Network route 68 and the Way of the Roses). At quiet times the bar can be quite intimate, with conversation involving the whole room. Food specials include French night Wednesday, Steak night Thursday, Fish & Chips Friday and Sunday Roasts. As well as the 5 letting rooms, there is a nearby caravan site beyond the village and a camping/caravan park the other side of the A65. There is an on-site bakery. The pub opens on Bank Holiday Mondays but is then closed the following Wednesday.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 3 regular beers.
