This Pub is Closed Long Term
CLOSED. Latimer Road once had seven pubs and this was the last one left. Reported mid-June 2024: a Licensing Application has been submitted to RBKC for that address, under the name of "The Volunteer".
The reference is LICPR/24/344875/01 and the applicant is "Wentworth Andersen" [sic], who refers to the ACV and the intention to run The Volunteer as a pub. The solicitors being used, Popplestone Allen, in Nottingham, are those used by the pub chain Mitchells and Butlers.
Reported Aug 2024: Following a hearing on August 1st 2024 the Council’s Licensing Sub-Committee granted a licence, including a series of conditions on the operation of the new pub. The conditions include provision of a "substantial" food offering until 10pm.
It is thought that The Volunteer will finally open in early 2025.
Subsequent to above, a planning app to refurb interior prior to reopening was withdrawn 4 Feb 2025.
Previous description follows.
Referenced as a bar & grill, wine bar, and pub. A family run, friendly 2-level bar famed for its eccentricity and described as not for the faint-hearted! Keg beers only but worth a visit for the vibe. The venue is also used as a social centre by the local Greek community.
The venue was listed by the Council as an Asset of Community Value on 23 Oct 2019. "The current use of the building furthers the social wellbeing or social interests of the local community and it is realistic to believe that the future use of the building or land will continue to further the social interests of the local community".
