This Pub is Closed Long Term
CLOSED on 4 November 2023 after sale to a developer whose planning application is expected for conversion to alternative use.
Until then:
There is a relaxed atmosphere in this large high ceilinged pub laid out with tables and chairs for dining as well as comfortable sofas and armchairs for those customers wanting convivial conversation with friends.
Acquired by Portobello in 2021 after 10 years as an Antic pub.
Up to six handpumps dispense real ales and ciders, usually including beers from Portobello as well as other London brewed ales and the occasional beer or cider from outside the Greater London region.
All Portobello beers are £4/pint before 7pm Mon-Fri.
Kitchen Opening Times: 5-10pm Mon-Fri; Sat; 12-8pm Sun.
TV (Terrestrial) shows major sporting events.
Formerly Goose and previously Furze & Firkin, originally a Burton's tailors' shop.
Historic Interest
The pub name commemorates the former Pratts department store in Streatham, which opened in the 1850s and closed in 1990, as well as the well known former local resident and "hostess” Cynthia Payne (1932 - 2011).
