Historic Interest

A pub since at least 1850 when it was listed in Bagshaw’s Directory. An Argyle Brewery pub transferred to Birkenhead Brewery in 1866 and then sold to Greenall Whitley in 1935. The old photo shows the pub in the 1880s with the bust of Wellington above the entrance. Closed 30 May 1967.
