A pub saving success. The Hermit Inn (aka "The Hermit" on the pub signage) was saved from being converted into housing by a local campaign group, with the support of local investors, and re-opened in Aug 2021. A traditional, multi-roomed, country inn located in the hills above Burley-in-Wharfedale with lovely views over the valley. The pub has a classic rural feel with dark wood panelling and furniture and a clay-tiled area around the bar. The layout is semi-open plan in nature with a large lounge area containing the bar and a smaller back room. The four hand-pulls serve a varying range of beers, often from the local area but sometimes from the wider Yorkshire region. The extensive outdoor terrace around the car park provides a large seating area giving great views over Wharfedale. There is also a beer garden below the terrace. The pub is very popular for those wanting the freshly prepared food. The pub is walker friendly with maps for walk in the local area area available for purchase and there are walking routes to/from local railway stations provided on the pubs website. Families and dogs are welcome. Whilst facilities for the disabled are generally good, improvements to access the ladies toilets are required and being planned. There is a Sunday night quiz from 8pm. If the pub is quiet at 10pm during weekdays, it may close early.
