This is a club, which means that the bar may be only open to members.
Originally opened in 1913, its premises included a shooting range until well after the end of the Second World War. It then became purely a social club, though it continues to be generally referred to as "The Rifle Club". Re-built in the early seventies, and re-modelled 4 years ago, the recently refurbished clubrooms now include a large concert room (with stage, a small dance floor and ample seating) and a games room. A varying range of real ales is offered with one available during the week and up to two at weekends. For those that appreciate the sound of a big band, this can be experienced from 8.30pm on Wednesdays when the Leeds Dance Orchestra plays or Saturdays from 8pm. The club is especially popular on a Wednesday night when parking places can be at a premium. New members are always welcome and membership costs £15 for the first year then £7.50 annually after that. Guests can be signed in by a member.
