Historic Interest
Originally a private house dating back to 1843, first recorded as a beer house in 1865, full license granted in 1881, bought by Yates's Castle Brewery in 1897. Known a "Bowies" because the licensee from 1902 to 1929 was William Bowskill succeeded by his son William, known as Billy, until his death in 1954. Selling John Smiths beers in the 1980s. Closed 2014 and converted to retail use.
