Recently [2018] opened by the owner of the Spinnaker Bar, Bembridge. Had a chequered career back in the 1950s when as the Bow Bars, the Island King of the Fruit Machines, Alfie Vernon was owner. Its most celebrated event was when Paul McCartney and his brother had an Ice Cream concession at the entrance from where it is said came the inspiration for 'Ticket to Ryde'. Has opened up [in 2018] with one real ale with more to follow as trade grows.

The Owners, Brothers Russell & Mike Carley both born in Cowes IOW though nearly a decade apart moved back to the Island [2013] looking for a new project. Russell with a vast background in Hospitality working around the UK needed a new challenge after running two seaside hotels on the East Cliff in Bournemouth. He moved back to become a landlord as it was a new position he had never experienced before. Mike based in the kitchen quickly progressed and worked in the UK, Spain and the Sicily isles before returning to take on a new venture in his home town.

May 2022 report: Cask ale withdrawn.
