17th Century Coaching Inn.

Parts of the Phoenix Inn date from the 17th century having been built as an inn on the Winchester to Portsmouth turnpike. The bar is split level with parquet floor, wooden beams and a welcoming log fire during the winter months, decorated with old local photos and barrel ends on the wood-panelled wall at the far end. At the rear is a skittle alley / function room which is also used for dining during busy periods.

Outside near the entrance is a covered smoking area with tables/chairs and at the rear is a pub garden and a marquee. Home cooked traditional pub food is served lunchtimes and evenings.

The Phoenix has been run by the same family for a number of years with the current landlady taking over after the sudden death of her partner Paul in 2019. Even though this is a Greene King pub, 3 of the 6 regular beers are local, mostly from Flower Pots, Hop Back & Triple fff.

17th century inn on the Winchester to Portsmouth turnpike. Grade II Listed. Historic England list entry 1095738.
