Historic Interest
Formerly known as the Victoria Public House and Hotel this building stands in a prominent location on the corner of Eastway and Wick Road. It was built c.1870 on the site of Wick House. The pub is four storeys and is constructed of yellow stock brick with decorative stone dressings. It is built in an Italianate style with the main façade broken up with five large round-headed windows at first floor level. The second floor has five smaller curved top windows with sills supported by brackets. Protruding keystone and deep cornice are additional decorative features. A flat mansard roof has been added with a metal balustrade broken by evenly spaced columns. There is a modern brick building occupying part of the roof. The pub has been converted to residential use.
