The Turks Head is only a short walk from the town centre. It was crowned Merseyside and Cheshire Regional CAMRA Pub of the Year 2023 and is the only pub in the local branch area to have been included in the GBG since the branch was founded in 2008. It is an attractive Tudor style pub built in the 1870’s. It offers a large range of real ales - rotational on 14 hand-pulls every day, a selection of real ciders and has a large whisky and gin bar. Very friendly welcome awaits all.
Upstairs is the Tower Lounge which offers cocktails and an extensive range of craft and continental beers. The lounge also has live music entertainment on most Saturday evenings and is used for private functions and community groups.
The Turks Head sells homemade high quality food every day and on Tuesday evenings hosts the free smart phone quiz night offering free half time refreshments. Wednesday evenings hosts a poker tournament upstairs in the tower Lounge and it's Curry Night on a Thursday. Large beer garden to the rear and side. Its an important part of its local community acting as a meeting place for many groups as well as raising funds for various charities and acting as a food bank collection point.
It is also worth visiting its sister pub the Cowley Vaults which is next door, together with the Cowley Grill which will deliver food to the Turks Head until 11pm Wed - Sun. The Cowley Vaults also has a selection of real ales and is a branch Community Pub of the Year. Events are organised between both pubs throughout the year.
