Historic Interest
In 1844 this was listed as a posting inn. A report in the Ipswich Journal*** in Apr 1870 states that : Died on the 25th, at Newmarket, aged 51, William Bacon, fist post-lad at the Rutland Arms Hotel. In 1922 it was listed as a first class family hotel with garage & billiards; near golf links. A Victorian brewery was once based on the site.
