This lovely community hub was reopened in November 2013, after the locals purchased it at auction from Enterprise.
A large traditional pub with elements dating from the 17th century, they have deservedly gained a name for their home-cooked meals, with an extensive choice of dishes. Look out for the attractive, tiled pub sign.
A wonderful starting point for several circular walks around the village and its environs.
Historic Interest
Built maybe as early as the 17th century. Grade II listed (1340743). According to the Red Lion "When the pub first opened in 1782, if the tide was low, ships travelling along the Severn from Bristol to Gloucester would stop at Arlingham and the sailors would walk up to the village, have a few drinks in the Red Lion and then head upstairs, hang their hammocks in the rafters and stay in the pub for the night.".
