Historic Interest
The Caledonia dates back to at least 1850 when it was listed in Bagshaw's Directory, an Argyle Brewery transferred to Birkenhead Brewery in 1866. Operated by Burtonwood Brewery in the 1980s. Later known as Stracey's Bar before closure. Reopened in September 2016 as the Lion after a smart refurbishment which took the pub back to a traditional local. Following a change of management in March 2019 it later changed its name to Monkeys Nuts. The old photos show the Caledonia in the 1980s and in the 1870s.
