This Pub is Closed Long Term

Update January 2025: The Lease For Sale sign has been taken down and the exterior has been painted to remove all branding. There is work going on inside as well.

This pub CLOSED in March 2024 having previously been open at weekends only for three months. The landlords are seeking new tenants.

The two handpumps are unused since the COVID pandemic.

This pub, a former bank, was refurbished by Livelyhood and reopened as the Mere Scribbler in April 2017.

The pub takes its name from the nickname of local 18th century satirical novelist, diarist and playwright Frances Burney.

A good selection of keg and bottled beers, wines and cocktails are available.

The food is very popular, from bar snacks to a full Sunday roast.

Several TVs show sport, including SKY and TNT Sports channels.
