An elegant and rather pricey establishment much given to the grape rather than grain and hops. No draught beers are sold, no T-bars or hand pumps on this counter, there is a selection of bottled beers in the fridge, local ale Old Leg Over, Vedett and Anchor Steam Beer make an appearance. A sign on the wall reminds us this is a claret and champagne bar. The expensive interior is furnished in leather and walnut with highly polished floors. The ladies and disabled toilets are down a wheelchair friendly slope behind the hotel reception desk. The décor is understated with bronze and cream walls, some well chosen prints, a selection of clocks showing different times and some cabinets of champagne bottles. The larger part of the ground floor is actually the bar with a long dining room off to one side, there is also an outside garden/patio area at the rear.
