Hartsfield Manor, Betchworth

REAL ALE not available

Small comfortable bar in a beautiful tucked away hotel. The imposing building dates from the 1860s and is set in 16 acres of attractive countryside. It was originally built as a family home, but in the second world war it was taken over by the Canadian army and was used as a hospital. After the war it became a hotel and was later bought by the Midland Bank as a staff training college. It is now a De Vere Group hotel. The high ceilinged bar is to be found to the right of reception, down a short corridor where many local photos are displayed on the walls. Bar snacks are available, plus there is a separate restaurant where more substantial meals are served. Cream teas are sold in the afternoon, and in the garden is a large chess set which can be used.
