*** This pub shut without much warning on Sunday 16th Sept 2018. It had been up for sale for two years previous to this date. The owners have applied to demolish the pub and build houses on the site!

An amended planning application to the originally approved application (2018/2001/FUL) has been refused on Fri 26 Mar 2021: 2020/2593/106 - Redevelopment of the site to provide five detached dwellings, and two pairs of semi-detached dwellings with one pair of garages serving plots 1 and 2 and two detached garages serving plots 4 and 5 with associated access, parking and landscaping - Modification of the Section 106 Agreement attached to planning permission 2018/2001/FUL granted 21st February 2020 to allow for the developer to receive 100% Acceptable Cost Guidance on the four affordable housing units

The following replacement Pre-Planning application was only partially successful with a Mixed response given by Swansea City Council on Thu 29 Sep 2022: 2022/1550/PRE - (Pre-application) Five 4 bed detached dwellings and Four 2 Bed semi-detached dwellings, Former Greyhound Inn Site Oldwalls Llanrhidian Swansea SA3 1HA

The following full planning application was approved (Approve subj to S106) by Swansea City Council on Wed 26 Jun 2024: 2020/1340/S73 - Redevelopment of the site to provide five detached dwellings, and two pairs of semi-detached dwellings with one pair of garages serving plots 1 and 2 and two detached garages serving plots 4 and 5 with associated access, parking and landscaping - Variation of Condition 2 of planning permission 2018/2001/FUL granted 21/02/2020 to allow for the submission of amendments to the layout of the proposed development - Greyhound Inn Llanrhidian Swansea SA3 1HA.

A replacement application was submitted to Swansea Council on Wed 29 Jan 2025 and was being considered as at 21st March 2025: 2025/0189/FUL | Demolition of the existing vacant building and the erection of 9 dwellings, comprising 5 open market houses, and 4 shared ownership affordable houses including new accesses, parking, landscaping and ancillary works. | Greyhound Inn Llanrhidian Swansea SA3 1HA

***** Original Pub Description:

Traditional 19th-century inn with a welcoming atmosphere and spiritual home to the Gower Brewery, with a wide range of its ales on offer at the bar. An extensive home-cooked bar menu is served every day, with popular lunch on Sundays from 12-2.30. Outside at the rear is a large beer garden with a children's play area and wonderful views over the Gower countryside. Hosts the Great Gower Beer festival in June, with camping available for the event, bookable in advance.
