A Grade II listed former coaching inn dating back to the mid 1600s. This was once the principal coaching inn of the Powis estates, which was sold into private ownership in 1975. The exterior has a distinctive 'late Georgian black and white' half-timbered fascia and is a prominent feature in this market town. The interior has been much altered over the years. and the bar has recently been located to the rear of the hotel in a much larger room. There is an indoor pool, sauna and a large conference room.
Historic Interest
Originally 16th century then re-fronted and altered in late 18th or early 19 century. Clad in mock timber-framing in later in the 19th century. Grade II Listed. Historic Wales list reference 7977
