This Pub is Permanently Closed
This pub was closed and boarded-up 11th July 2012 and has now been demolished for redevelopment as dwellings. History: Originally opened in August 1968, it was built by Young's and named after their head horse-keeper who had joined the firm in 1923 and retired in 1966. On the left there is a public bar and, on the right, a pair of interconnected rooms which are named together as 'Saloon Lounge' on the outside door. The last landlord (Crispin and Milla) had established the pub as a premier south west London music venue. Two bars, Pool table and darts. Disabled and nappy facilities. Young’s sold the pub to Languard Investments Ltd - Property Investment Company in Battersea SW11 6RX for £1.2M in 2011. A Planning application to redevelop the site was submitted on the 24th Nov 2011 (11/3819/FUL) by the developers who now own the pub. The Proposal: Demolition of existing building. Change of use from Public House (drinking establishment - Class A4) to Residential (Class C3) and the construction of residential block consisting of 9 apartments on 4 floors plus Basement Car Parking. Demolished in April 2013.
