This Pub is Permanently Closed

Behind the austere stone frontage of this mid-19th century listed building is a warm and welcoming bar that is a great favourite with city ale-drinkers. The bar itself, slightly obscured from the entrance, sits directly above a fine medieval cellar, and its five constantly-changing ales are from craft brewers around the British Isles. Cider (or perry) is mostly from Westons. Bistro-style seating dominates, but there are easy chairs in small corners. Home-cooked bar food is available Monday-Saturday. Fine B&B accommodation offered. Live music Tuesday and Sunday evenings. Wheelchair WC. Plans for a refurbishment during 2004.
