This traditional and friendly local pub in Bromley North Village was built in 1873 and has been a pub ever since. Unspoilt and welcoming, there are regular quiz nights. The pub won a Shepherd Neame "small garden of the year" award in 2011. Over 25s only.

Historic Interest

This was purpose built in 1873 to serve the growing area of what was then called New Bromley. An attempt to open a beer-house in 1860 in the New Town part of Bromley (later New Bromley) under the name "Anglesea Arms" was refused by magistrates. The pub is named after the 1st Marquess of Anglesey, who as Henry Paget, Earl of Uxbridge, fought alongside the Duke of Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 and was awarded the title for heroism (and losing his right leg). The pub sign shows his shield with five lions to represent dauntless courage. This was later owned by the Dartford Brewery.
