Opened in 1933 and refurbished in 2020, this place escaped the local CAMRA branch until Septermber 2024!
The only licensed premises in a large village, it offers a friendly welcome to all comers.
It is effectively the village hall, and facilities include a full size snooker table. Regular events are featured including quiz, bingo and party nights. No food is served, but a pizza van makes regular appearances and fish & chip nights are held.(see their Facebook page for details). The premises is fully disabled accessible. They field teams in the local darts and domino leagues, the bar opens on Tuesday nights for home matches.
Clive is served by a regular bus service Mon - Sat (511 Shrewsbury - Whitchurch), but the times of the buses preclude a return journey, Yorton Station on the Shrewbury to Crewe line is about 1km away - this is a request stop. If travelling to Yorton be sure to tell the train conductor, if travelling outbound, signal to the driver to stop the train.
Two real ales are served, Stonehouse Station Bitter & one varying beer from Salopian Brewery.
Clive used to have extensive copper mine workings from way back in antiquity until 19th century. Access to the mines is unfortunately not possible
