This original red-brick sandstone pub has been much enlarged and was relaunched in 2014 as a 'Whitbread Inn', offering meal deals and the like. Internally it has been arranged quite tastefully. The bar, complete with pool table, to the left of the entrance and dining areas to the right are quite distinct, with the latter having various alcoves and levels which make it seem a little more intimate. Background music is unobtrusive The pub opens early for breakfast, at 6.30-10.30 weekdays and 7.30-11 on Sundays. This is mainly to cater for the guests in the adjoining Premier Inn.
Although there are four handpumps, only one or two will be in use at any one time.
