Located at the far end of the village just before the steep ascent up Greenhow Hill, the pub comprises one large open plan room although the entrance has two doors, presumably they used to lead to two different bars. The previous dividing wall has been pierced and lined with copper to accommodate a wood burning stove. Decorated with pictures old and new of the Dale and whisky jugs, there are stone floors and an open fire, with a TV screen and Yorkshire dart board (no trebles). There is a patio outside and a smoking / seating shelter across the road at the front with views over the village and the Dale. Four handpumps on the bar serve local ales and food is served daily during the summer season; the pub may operate shorter hours and less beers in winter.
NB. The handpump on the right-hand side is set up as a Theakston Summit (extra chilled pale) pump, however other cask ales are sometimes served from this pump and may therefore be too cold for regular cask ale!
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 2 regular beers.
Royal Oak, Pateley Bridge
Changing beers typically include: Copper Dragon - Best Bitter , Harrogate (varies) , Ilkley - Blonde
