Overlooking Ryde Esplanade and Harbour with views across the Solent. The majestic castellated building is claimed to have been commissioned by Henry VII to defend the Spithead, Solent and Southampton Water from invasion by the Spanish. Near the beach, Hovercraft, Railway and Ferry, the pub was used to re-launch the local branch of CAMRA in 1991. There are conference facilities, a small meeting room and a banqueting room seating up to 200 people. Refurbished after a disastrous fire.
