More than 400 years old, this much altered and expanded multi-roomed inn stands in superb walking country near Woodchester Mansion.
You enter the pub from the car park into a corridor where the a doorway to the toilets may be found, ladies gents and a disabled cubicle, a tarmac ramp is provided for those on wheels. Going left takes you into the newest part of the pub built at the same time as the toilets (previously the gents were outside), a large rectangular room. This is spacious light and airy benefitting from multiple windows over which Easterly views of the valley to the escarpment opposite is afforded. Early, the the room will be flooded with sun on clear days.
Going right takes you along the corridor up a gentle gradient and into the main part of the pub with the long bar area in front of you and a separate area to your right which adjoins the kitchen. Both rooms benefit from well sized log burners to provide that cosy feel in the off season.
The Bar is well stocked with 4 beer engines and two sets of fonts for those that enjoy their refreshment cooler with more carbonation. An area for darts may be found at the far end together with a large screen TV that is enabled for select sporting events.
There is a small patio to the rear through a door off the bar and a beautiful terrace with lovely views over the valley at the front.

Historic Interest
According to British History Online "The Ram Inn at South Woodchester has been recorded as an inn since 1766 when a friendly society met there. A friendly society continued to meet there in 1816. In 1690 the licences of five alehouse keepers of the parish were withdrawn. In 1838 there were one public house and ten beer-houses in the parish."
