Popular restaurant and bar set in a thatched 400-year-old building, with adjacent boutique hotel rooms.
Predominantly a high end restaurant, but also where drinkers are still welcome in the bar area, where two cask ales are on offer. The Sanderson Best house beer is Greene King IPA. A low, beamed ceiling, huge inglenook fireplace, silk floral decorations and subtle lighting provide a very cosy, welcoming and comfortable ambience; although the many "trophies" adorning the walls might be off-putting for some.
The extensive menu uses locally sourced fresh ingredients wherever possible, and provides for an upmarket, modern, yet still home-comfort dining experience. There is a focus on hearty meat dishes, particularly notable being the British beef steak selection, which are dry-aged in-house for 28 days. A number of pub classics also feature on the menu.
The pub opens at 8.00am daily and serves a full range of hot breakfasts through to 10.00am.
There is a separate, modern well appointed function room, and a smaller outdoor dining room, which can cater for weddings with up to 100 guests, or more intimate private dining events. There is also a Gallery room that provides a meeting/conference space for up to 20 attendees.
The nine-room boutique hotel style accommodation opened in 2019 and all rooms have en-suite facilities and a full range of modern amenities.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 2 regular beers.
