Old Hall, Sandbach

CAMRA South Cheshire Winter Pub 2018.

Was once the residence of the Lords of the Manor of Sandbach. Extension added in 18C when it was known as "The Three Tuns". Further extension in 19C to accommodate coach travellers. Used as a billet for American officers during

second World War. Grade I listed building dating from 1656. Was allowed to decay by previous owners, but brought back to life when bought by Brunning and Price. Carefully restored, tastefully refurbished and extended, reopened in 2011, retaining most of its original fittings. Main entrance, which belies the internal area, leads to a centrally arranged bar to the right. On the left is a wonderful Jacobean carved fireplace, one of two in the pub. There are tables in the large gardens at the front of the pub, and a large patio area with circular tables to the rear, some with parasols. Many historical pictures caricatures and advertising flyers on walls covering a wide period. Up to five real ales. One house beer - 'Original Bitter', four other real ales changing Locale and National brands over a variety of tastes. One real cider during summer months.

Manager and 3 staff trained in cellar operations. Beer quality good.
