This is a club, which means that the bar may be only open to members.

The Club was founded in 1868 and after various moves, since 1927 has been in a building close to Grosvenor Square and hence away from the main hub of London gentlemen's clubs. The site is a combination of numbers 69 and 71 and is decorated in extravagant 1880s French style with a ballroom, grand staircase etc. The Savile members, known as Savilians, like food, drink, and conversation; card games, and a special form of snooker known as Savile Snooker. Membership is wide-ranging including the arts, theatre, broadcasting, literature, science and music worlds. Membership is male-only although it was reported in 2017 that a member transitioning to female had been allowed to stay as a member of the club.

The bar is gentlemen-only until the evening.
