Greyhound, Peppard Common (Crooked Billet at the Greyhound)

Lovely country pub with emphasis on high end dining. The pub reopened on 1st October 2026 as the temporary home of the Crooked Billet in Stoke Row - whilst that pub is renovated following a major fire.

Originally a Wethered pub, it has been a freehouse since the early 2000s. Mainly a restaurant with tables laid out for dining, with two beamed dining areas to the left and right on entry, but there is also a distinct central small bar area where customers are welcome to pop in for drinks only. The dining room to the right is particularly attractive and welcoming and is an old barn conversion filled with trinkets, pictures and artifacts to give it a wonderfully cosy and intimate feel.

There is an attractive outdoor garden area at the front, with lots of decking and plant tubs, which is a delightful sunny spot in the summer months.

The Crooked Billet team have all moved to the Greyhound and it continues to serve a wide and eclectic menu of modern British dishes and bistro favourites with absolutely everything made on the premises, including the bread, biscuits, stocks, sorbets and the famous fudge, for which the Crooked Billet has such a great reputation.

The equally famous live music evenings featuring well known folk, rock and pop artists are set to return from late November 2026.
