This Pub is Closed Long Term
Mainly a restaurant, but drinkers are still welcome in the small bar area.
Assumed to be closed on 2 December 2024 with its future uncertain; the website, Facebook page and Instagram have not been updated as of 2 December 2024 @ 3pm.
Message on their Facebook page on 15 November 2024:
"With a very heavy heart, due to continuingly difficult trading conditions and next year's budget changes, I've taken the hard decision to close The Greyhound permanently from Monday 2nd December 2024.
Thank you to all of you who've enjoyed the Greyhound over the years.
David"
Please note that the Greyhound is leased from the Wellington Pub Company, therefore it may reopen with a new lessee (as on 2 December 2024 it is not listed on the Wellington Pub Company website).
After refurbishment in August/September 2024 it reopened with the new name of Greyhound Grill. Unfortunately, it now no longer serves real ale and the handpumps have been removed. Local beers, such as Rebellion IPA, are available, but in keg form only.
Originally a Wethered pub, it has been a freehouse since the early 2000s. Although mainly a restaurant with tables laid out for dining, there is a central small bar area where customers are welcome to pop in for drinks only. There are no real ales, however, but an extensive line of keg fonts, which include ales from local breweries.. The dining room to the right is in an old barn conversion and is filled with trinkets, pictures and artefacts to give it a cosy and intimate feel. The menu includes comforting pub classics as well as signature dishes. Fresh, seasonal food is key, more often than not supplied by local producers.
