Excellent street corner local, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. There is live music on Wednesdays. Parts of this very handsome pub are very ancient, going back to ca 1750, and it originally fronted the sea before reclamation of land. Originally the Beach Tavern, then in 1850 after reclamation it became the Strand Tavern and finally renamed the Solent Inn in 1900 . Beware - the public bar slopes downhill alarmingly, so it’s not that you’ve had too much!

Opening times vary with the seasons and patronage. A Sunday Roast is available all year round, while lunches are only availlable in the summer..
