The Ulbster Arms is both a smart hotel and "the local" for Halkirk which was one of the first ever "planned settlements" in Scotland.

The cosy bar has 1 handpump on at all times, rising to three in the summer.

Although some distance from Georgemas Junction railway station it can be walked or cycled to.
