This Wetherspoon pub is an interesting conversion of a Methodist chapel built in 1878. In Autumn 2014 the pub was extended into a later chapel annex not previously occupied by the pub. This room is available for private functions. The main bar area is lit by two chandeliers hanging from an intriguingly decorated ceiling. Organ pipes, pews and even hymn book numbers can still be seen on the upper floor which is not open to the public.

Historic Interest

Grade II-listed. This pub bears the name of the man who lived at nearby Fixby Hall for 20 years and famously campaigned against excessive working hours in the 19th century.
