This Pub is Closed Long Term
Tracing its origins back beyond 1836, this friendly, country pub offers good beer and food. An L-shaped bar has a welcoming open fire and a good atmosphere. A well-refurbished extension on the front of the premises provides a children's/games room. Large, pleasant garden with meandering stream and shady willow tree. Children's play area - note the dinosaur. Awarded Forest of Dean CAMRA Pub of the Year 1999 and 2000.
The pub closed following an armed robbery and arson attack on 02/09/2016. The pub did not reopen afterwards and was sold in August 2017. The new owners said restoration as a pub was uneconomic and applied for planning permission for change of use to a dwelling. This was turned down in February 2018 and the subsequent appeal was also rejected in November 2018. However, the pub has been restored and as of January 2020 it was on sale for £240k as a pub, not a dwelling.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 1 regular beer.
