Located in an elevated position on the crest of a hill the views from nearby the pub are spectacular, with a vista extending far over the Forest of Dean towards the Black Mountains of Wales. The views from the bar of the Mount Pleasant itself, however, merely overlooks the main road onto houses opposite. The pub signage depicts a hunts woman, resplendent in her black tunic, jodhpurs and boots sitting astride her horse - perhaps a mischievous interpretation of the pubs name by the brewery artist. A colourful 'Best in the West - West Country Ales' ceramic plaque survives on the front of the pub.
