Popular town-centre pub, whose sign is the old Crewe heraldic arms. There are 10 ever-changing real ales plus a selection of continental beers on tap and in bottles. Real cider features up to two hand drawn dispensers. Open-plan upstairs with three distinct drinking areas on two levels. The large downstairs room is available for funtions and leads to a sheltered beer garden. Every real ale pump clip that has been served at this establishment are affixed to the ceiling throughout the pub. This local pub has over 100 years of history but took on its current form in 1999 when it was refurbished and reopened by Alan Hinde, founder of Coastal Brewery, former landlord of the Albion on Mill Street and former brewer at the Rising Sun in Shraleybrook. The current landlord, John Webster, has since extensively refurbished the pub and beer garden and maintained the excellent standard previously set. A visit would definitely suit railway enthusiasts, as the West Coast Mainline runs within 6ft of the beer garden. The pub is a 10 min walk to the Crewe Heritage Centre and railway memorabilia decorates the pub throughout.
